Redemption & Revolution
By Thailan When
Redeption
revolution
can it be found?
I’m reaching into a trash can
and pulling out my hand
upon the throne
I’ve known that man can stand
have we evolved as much as we’d like to think?
when every belief we’ve sailed at some point has started to sink?
and she blinks
in unison with the heartbeat of a bird who is flapping wings
flying to the tree where eternity sings
songs of great deeds
telling stories of ancestors
who don’t bleed
but we see nothing
more than fools
or wise men’s tales
messiahs of the modern day wails
coming
we are bringing light in the times of blindness
fumbling toward warmth in the darkness
I’m standing in the starkness of the day
open for the universe to see
there comes a price for knowledge
sometimes it’s almost free
by and by
sightings of lightning
burn the midnight sky
