LEAVE THEM ON

By Thailan When

To shine my light
in your night right now
would be a dream
a perfect cloud

these eyes have been shown
sunset and sunrise
but there’s nothing like
the colors in your mind
there ain’t nothing like
the beauty of your skies
can’t be anything quite like your smile

I’ll shine the lights
wherever you want
and I’ll leave them on
even when you’re gone

they’re building a castle way up high
far up past where they can see from here
just below will be that dirty old road
to remind them everyday
how they got up there

I’m sailing down the rivers to Babylon
far down past where I can see from here
just above will be that working dove
and before me
it’s more blood sweat and tears

I’ll shine the lights
wherever you want
and I’ll leave them on
even when you’re gone
